PPG-EM Rules
The PPG-EM, is the program responsible for the Master's and Doctoral courses in Mechanical Engineering at UERJ. A navigation through the pages of the PPG-EM rules is recommended.
The complete regulation is available for download at the end of this page, however we can highlight some important rules of the masters and doctoral courses of the PPG-EM:
- The maximum duration is 24 months for the master's degree and 48 months for the doctorate, and may be extended for another 6 months if the PPG-EM board approves. If the board does not approve, the student will be disconnected from the program for not meeting the deadline.
- There are four mandatory courses for the Master: Advanced Calculus I (3 credits), Continuous Mechanics I (3 credits), Seminars and Teaching Internship; and four mandatory courses for the doctorate: Advanced Calculus II (3 credits), Continuous Mechanics II (3 credits), Seminars and Teaching Internship
- In addition to the mandatory subjects, the master's student must take another 18 credits in elective courses and the doctoral student must take another 30 credits in elective courses. The use of credits obtained in other graduate program courses may not exceed 24 credits and will depend on the student's request and acceptance by PPG-EM board. Only credits of courses that have been taken for a maximum of four (4) years immediately prior to the student's enrollment in the PPG-EM will be accepted, upon presentation of supporting documentation.
- The minimum attendance of 85% in each course or activity of PPG-EM is compulsory.
